[It's a silly thing to do. Going out into the world as if he's really a part of it. Even anchored to it like he is now, he knows he's not. There's no point to this. He doesn't belong.
Still. Maybe it's a desire to see things as they are now, before everything is consumed by flame. Maybe he just wants to get away from the cultists for a bit. Maybe he needs a change of scenery.
Whatever it is, Edward finds himself wandering the city recently. It's aimless, at first. Then he finds a coffee shop. It doesn't especially stand out. It isn't much. However, for the last few weeks, he has visited every day. Setting up in a corner, ordering coffee, and just... sitting.
Almost like he's a person.
It's just playing pretend. He knows it. The cult knows it, too, which is probably why they're allowing it. Whenever anyone needs him, they come here, now. It hasn't happened often, just a handful of times. The rest of the time, it's him and his coffee that will never get cold, which he will never drink. He stares out the window the whole time, without really seeing anything outside.
...It's not something that could be called enjoyable, but it's something to do.]
sold my soul to a sweet melody
