[it's been a couple weeks now, and like clockwork, here comes that young man again. He does nothing but sit in the corner and look out the window, and he's...really cute though. And admittedly, Oswald is...very curious about him. He just sits there for hours, after all, just watching the park across the street.
It's strange. But intriguing. And Oswald's been trying to work up the nerve for weeks to even just say more than a hello and take his order.
It's that day specifically, when they're low on customers and that young man is the only one in the shop, that Ivy takes the rag away from him that he's using to clean, and nudges him out from behind the counter with a look that he supposes is an attempt at encouraging. Oswald swallows, then, and unties his apron, setting it over a chair and taking up his cane with something like determination...before he makes his way over to the table, pausing next to it.]
[There hasn't been much communication here. The most he's been asked here is if he wanted a refill (he still has coffee) or if he wants the wifi password (no thanks), maybe just a hello.
...This is new, and Edward glances up, almost as if knocked out of a daze.]
[He blinks, looking back. Oh. Yes, the park that's there. He's barely even noticed it, despite looking at it all this time. Honestly, it just sort of blurred together into green shapes.]

Anything interesting today?

...This is new, and Edward glances up, almost as if knocked out of a daze.]
...What?
no subject
You've been watching that park for several hours every day for two weeks. Has there been anything interesting today?
no subject
[He blinks, looking back. Oh. Yes, the park that's there. He's barely even noticed it, despite looking at it all this time. Honestly, it just sort of blurred together into green shapes.]
...Not that I've noticed.
no subject
Are you watching for something specific?
no subject
[...
Is there... a point to talking like this...?]
...I like sitting here.

[. . .]
It's very... [don't say normal. even he knows that'd give the wrong impression.] ...I don't know. Peaceful, maybe.
[he kind of knows that's wrong, too, but...]
no subject
This sure is a conversation]
...may I sit?
no subject
[He doesn't mind one way or another.]
no subject
[he'll sit, then.]
It sounds like you're kept fairly busy outside these walls, if it's peaceful here.

Have you seen the botanical gardens in the park? They're quite stunning.
no subject
[...mostly he's just passed by it.]
no subject
Would you like to go? I could show you around...I know the gardens quite well.
no subject
he tilts his head, thinking it over a little longer.]
...Sure. We can go.
no subject
Oh. Great. When would be a good time for you?
no subject
[. . .
what? what's the problem?]
no subject
[Oswald's eyes widen slightly] Ah--alright. [he's pushing to his feet, glancing over at Ivy]
Ah, Ivy, if you don't mind, we're going to--
"Yep, I've gotcha covered, go ahead!"
[she looks utterly delighted, her own eyes a bit wide in surprise. But Oswald will turn his attention back to the young man]
Shall we?
no subject
Alright.
...Please, lead the way.
no subject
Right this way. [he'll...head out of the coffee shop, holding the door for him on the way of course]
no subject
...Blinking a little as he holds the door open, but going through.]
no subject
I didn't catch your name.
no subject
[Just the first name. It's all he needs to know.]
no subject
no subject
[just
keeps walking
...he doesn't know what people say in these situations...]
no subject
maybe he's just
really shy????
Oswald will walk with him comfortably in the quiet for a moment, before he speaks up again ]
Have you been to a botanical garden before?
no subject
[...he looks over to Oswald.]
...Should I have?
no subject
Do you have a favorite flower or plant that you like?
no subject
[...definitely not. He just burns flowers.]
...I like Canna lilies, I guess.
no subject
no subject
I like the colors of canna compacta.
no subject

[...

Do you... like plants?
[IS HE DOING THIS RIGHT]

Or all of them?
