....that's alright. Don't worry about it for now. You need to rest. [--which is about the time that Lee comes in] "Oswald? What happened?" [and to that, Oswald huffs, turning on the bed to give her an exasperated look] Someone decided he wanted to sit up for a spell.

Mhm... [His attention slips, for a moment and... Oh, Lee's here now. When'd that happen? He blinks a little.]

[Lee blows out a breath through her nose at that] "I see. Then I'll need to make sure he hasn't torn anything--and perhaps leave a message on the ceiling so when he wakes up, the first thing he sees is not to sit up." [dryly] [Oswald just chuckles lightly at that] I imagine that could possibly be a help, yes.

[Edward blinks a few more times. Ah, wait... Wait, they're talking about him. ...Rude.] M'fine...

[at that, both Lee and Oswald just....look at him with the most deadpan expressions] "....that remains to be seen. I'm going to go get a nurse to help me. Oswald, make sure he stays down this time."

[YEAH THAT LOOK IS GETTING IGNORED while Lee exits again, now to retrieve a nurse so they can make sure Edward hasn't pulled something]

I've had broken ribs before. Can't breathe too deep when they're like that. [A lesson he learned the hard way.] ...Way worse last time, though. I didn't, uh... didn't have painkillers then.

No? [he settles a bit more on the edge of the bed, waiting for Lee to get back] What situation was that, then?

Got knocked around a bit... Dad got a little too rough and, uh... we couldn't afford painkillers. [Edward's not looking at Oswald, but it's not deliberate. He's just, you know, out of it still. He can focus his attention on one thing only and right now that's remembering this. It's also something he definitely would not share normally, but right now his filter is pretty much gone, so. There's that.] He'd just tell me to suck it up, basically.

[Oswald's lips press into a thin line, at that, and there's a slow rage that burns in his stomach] He sounds like an idiotic brute.

Yeah. Kinda... S'why I changed names when I left Hyperion. [Not because it was safer that way. If it was that, he would've given a different first name, too.] Didn't want his anymore.
