Oh. [That's the only response Oswald is going to get, as Edward just kind of... keeps looking at him.]

So. [Oswald tosses the file onto the table, folding his arms across his chest] I'll be asking you a few questions, then I probably won't see you again until we're in court. [if he sounds bored it's because he is.]

[enigmaster]

Mhm. [Yeah, no, he's with you there, Oswald. Edward is still just sort of staring blankly ahead. ...Not much of a talker, this one.]

[agoodname]

Well, I can tell this is going to be an exciting afternoon. [drawled, sarcastic. And Oswald sighs a bit] You don't seem particularly bothered either way.

[enigmaster]

Should I be? [He tilts his head slightly.] It isn't as if we don't both already know how this is going to go.

[agoodname]

[Ah. One of those.] Oh? How's that?

[enigmaster]

You're going to ask your questions, the answers to which don't especially matter. Then we'll go to court, at which point you'll easily win, I'm sure. And then I go to jail. ...I think I have that about right, yes?

[agoodname]

[Oswald hums a bit] Generally, yes. Though despite this, you've still decided to state that you're not guilty.

[enigmaster]

Well. I will be under oath in there. [He's not supposed to lie.]

[agoodname]

[....huh] And I suppose your lawyer has evidence to prove that you aren't guilty? [now he's mildly curious. But only mildly.]

[enigmaster]

I don't believe I'm supposed to answer that. Though it seems calling him a lawyer is a bit of a stretch, isn't it? [Appointed by the court. It's not a great defense.] I am accused of murder. I simply figured I shouldn't add perjury into the mix too.

[agoodname]

[Oswald's eyes narrow slightly...and he studies Mr. E.Nygma for a minute] ...rather suitable name you've got, isn't it?

[enigmaster]

I suppose. [So he's been told, a few times, though generally in far ruder ways.]

[agoodname]

[he chuckles a bit at that, before pushing to his feet] Well. On second thought, I don't think I have much to ask. [he reaches out to take the folder] But I might back later. Who knows. You're certainly interesting, Mr. Enigma.

[enigmaster]

I'm sure it will be the highlight of my day. [Dry. Tired.] ...Could I ask you something, maybe? Before you go.

[agoodname]

[he pauses at that, curious] Certainly.

[enigmaster]

Did you know Mr. Grant was lying to you?

[agoodname]

[And Oswald freezes. He stares at Edward for a moment, blinking once] ....how do you mean?

[enigmaster]

When he told you he was guilty. He was actually covering for his sister. [He tilts his head slightly, curiously.] I was just wondering if you knew or not.

[agoodname]

[. . . . . . . . .] ....I wasn't aware, no. [he leans in a bit, mildly curious] though I'm curious as to why you think so.

[enigmaster]

[Edward glances over Oswald's shoulder at something, locking his gaze on... something.] ...Intuition.

[agoodname]

[Oswald's eyes narrow, slightly. He stares at Edward's expression, at where he's looking. He doesn't look behind him.] That's an interesting kind of intuition you have, there.

[enigmaster]

[It's a few more moments before Edward stops looking over Oswald's shoulder.] ...It tends to be accurate. You can check, if you want. Or don't. The case is closed, so it doesn't especially matter much to you now.

[agoodname]

I don't think it matters much, no. Especially since Mr. Grant was executed for multiple accounts of manslaughter two weeks ago.

[enigmaster]

So he was. [And then, very dryly, like he's annoyed with something:] May he rest in peace.
