How is he supposed to answer a question like that? Okay, yes, well. Very easily, in theory. Just say "yes, please stop" and that's that.
Except he doesn't really... want that.
...That's weird, right? This isn't really his sort of-- Oswald is just touching his hand, nothing is really happening, but he squeezes Edward's wrist and his mind goes blank and
Ah, good. [Oswald is clearly pleased by that, a slow half-smirk curling the corner of his mouth, eyes going lidded] I'm so glad to hear that. [his fingers curl, nails lightly dragging against the skin of his inner arm as he pulls his hand upward slowly, only up to about halfway up his inner arm, before dragging back down to his wrist. Just letting him feel the sensation of that]
Of course. [there's no one here but them--he's aware of that, though Edward might not be. He drags his fingers higher, now, digging in just a bit harder, increasing that sensation, though not even close to the point of pain] As I said, I'd hate to make you uncomfortable.
[At least at this stage of the game. Oswald hums a bit though, in contemplation, watching Edward's face keenly] Though I would say that it seems that you are enjoying it~
[Edward certainly isn't uncomfortable. A little nervous, maybe. But yes. Definitely enjoying it and he can feel himself getting more red at getting called out on that.]
Um, yes, well. Well, I... [words. what are words. oh god.] I don't... mind it, no...
Ah, well, I'm certainly glad you don't mind~ [it's teasing, gently, fingers dragging upward one last time, this time all the way to where he can shift his hand to cup Edward's elbow, easing him forward]
Although...[he trails off a bit, urging Edward to lean a bit across the desk by his elbow so he's much closer as Oswald leans in as well] ...you know, I don't know if these two books will be sufficient enough for my research. Perhaps we should check the card catalogue one more time? Just in case we've missed something. [he's lowered his voice just a touch, tone certainly suggestive]
[Edward blinks a little as Oswald guides him forward, almost more in control of his movements than Edward himself. There's a light frown on his face, as Oswald mentions the books, but then his eyes widen just a little.
Oh.
Oh, this is... uh...
Wow, that slightly lower voice is kind of a lot.]
I... see. Well, um. Well. I suppose I'll just... have to help you. With that. [He'll get up and away from his desk, perhaps almost a bit skittish in his movements.] I guess we'd... best go see.
[It absolutely isn't. Which is why Oswald seems entirely relaxed as they head to the card catalogue in the back. Edward is just so flustered and it's honestly quite entertaining. It makes it that much more fun, really, to see what he can draw out of him.
In no time at all they're at the back room, and Oswald gestures for Edward to go first] After you~
[...Yep, okay, it's weird. To Edward, it is. He's never-- No one has ever so much as really looked twice at him. Oswald is an anomaly. One he's completely unprepared for.]
[it's all just fine. Oswald will follow him in, then, gently closing the door behind him with a quiet click, just calmly observing Edward for the moment. He doesn't immediately get into his space because the fact that he's far out of his depth is quite clear--though he is moving a bit closer]
Still okay? [he tilts his head back to look up at him]
[A part of Edward kind of wants to just flee right now. Perhaps a loud part. Fight or flight instinct kicks in for being flirted with too, how about that? But that's... that's the anxiety. That's panic brain talking. The other half of him very much wants to stay.
[he looks about ready to bolt. Clearly he's got to ease Edward into this--which is perfectly fine. There's an art to this, after all, and Oswald very much enjoys it] Remember, Edward, you can tell me to slow down or stop at any time. [not that Oswald is expecting him to do either--it's more of a cursory thing, to make Edward feel more comfortable. And he's reaching out to rest a hand on Edward's hip as he steps closer] If you need to, that is. [and there's almost no space between them, now, though some still remains--that last, deliberate distance]
[Oswald's hand is on his hip. It's right there. On his hip. He almost glances down at it, but stops himself. It isn't like he can't feel it and it's a little hard looking away from Oswald's face when he's... this close.
Very close.
Edward doesn't... relax, exactly, but some of the tension where it feels like he just wants to jump out the nearest window has gone. It's a start.]
[and he's just going to blindly hook his cane on one of the arms of the card catalogue cabinets, leaving it there] Good. [he trails his fingers up the inside of Edward's other arm now until he can slide it up under his arm to flatten his hand on the back of his shoulder] Now lean down just a bit for me~?
Thank you. [he sounds immeasurably pleased by the obedience, as he pushes onto his toes just slightly, putting their faces rather close together] I'm going to kiss you now, Edward, if you're amenable.
[well, that's a good sign. No pulling back or anything; in fact, quite the opposite. Oswald hums a bit, pleased, pressing Edward closer with that hand on his shoulderblade and tightening his grip just slightly on Edward's hip to steady himself as he deepens that kiss--a little more pressure, a little more intensity]
[It's his first real kiss. It's not something he's given a lot of thought, really, but whatever he expected, this is... certainly different. But in a good way. The pressure isn't disconcerting at all, it's a good thing and whatever he was so worried about before now seems just
insignificant.
There's just this, right here. At some point Edward rested one of his hands on Oswald's shoulder, but he only barely realizes it, far too lost in the kiss itself.]
[Reciprocative touching--even better. Oswald will kiss him like this, then, for a bit longer--closed mouthed and pressure--before his hand moves from Edward's hip, sliding around his waist instead. He'll gently tug Edward in the rest of the way so they're flush together, making a pleased noise against his mouth, before parting his lips slightly so he can just barely scrape his teeth against Edward's bottom lip.]

It's hard to describe. But it's nice.
Really nice.]
I-- [Edward's voice kind of dies, and he swallows quickly. Quickly glancing around, because he knows he's very red right now.] You, ah... You are...?

Yes.
[Why does he keep talking? ffs, Edward. He's just... going to start heading over there. Quickly.
But not, you know, too quickly. Because that would be weird. Which this isn't.]

Um, yes. Perfectly... Perfectly okay.
[Is that not obvious. Look at how okay he is.]
