[there's an attempt at a smile, but it's a bit wan] Yes, it seems I will.

Alright. ...I'm almost done with breakfast, too, so. It'll just be a sec.

[agoodname]

[the expression on his face softens at that, just utterly betraying the fondness that steals over his features] How are you feeling this morning?

[enigmaster]

Ah... [Well.] I'm feeling better. It doesn't really hurt much anymore...

...that's good. [it is. It's an improvement. But there's still the elephant in the room that needs to be brought up. But maybe not just yet. Maybe not until after breakfast. He does have the whole day at home] You should ice your eye again, after breakfast.

[enigmaster]

I will, don't worry. It's not the first black eye I've looked after. [.........he just says these things like they're normal.]

[. . . . and yep there goes the pit of his stomach, just dropping like that. Oswald swallows, hard, fingers curling into the countertop. He doesn't really have a response to that]

[enigmaster]

[Edward blinks, noticing the silence. He swallows, looking over his shoulder again.] ...Oswald?

[agoodname]

[and Oswald shuffles forward a bit, coming closer so he can just...slip his arms around Edward's waist from behind, hugging him gently] ....I'm just glad you're alright.

[enigmaster]

Ah... [Edward blinks. Not moving, though, or drawing back.] Of course... I'm just fine.

[agoodname]

[his arm tighten, just a fraction. It's an effort to keep from clinging tightly] ...I don't like the idea of you getting hurt, Edward. [his voice is quiet, half-muffled by Edward's sleep shirt]

[enigmaster]

[...] ...It's... alright. It won't... Um... It won't happen again. I promise.

[Oswald can't help but swallow at that, hard. He wants to believe him. He does. But...there's still that niggling of down. Edward hadn't even known why it happened. He just...] I was...I was thinking that, maybe, I should put you down as my emergency contact. Since, well. Since my parents aren't, any more.

[enigmaster]

[Edward pauses at that. And he's quiet, for a moment, as he just puts the eggs he was working on some plates.] ...You think? [He swallows, still quiet for a moment.] That'd... um... That'd probably be good, I guess, huh?

[agoodname]

If...if that's okay, if course. Only if you're comfortable with that.

[enigmaster]

Yeah, that's fine. I just hadn't considered that... [The idea that someone would even... want that?] But it sounds like a good idea.

[agoodname]

[Oswald blows out a small breath at that]

I just thought it would be a good idea, you know...Gotham being Gotham.

[enigmaster]

Yeah... You're probably right. We can just put each other down, then. Just in case. Ah... [Coffee's done, too, so he's gonna go and pour that.] Breakfast's ready.

[that's....a relief. It's not perfect, not everything is better, but it's something. At least he'll know if something happens, now. But he does finally release Edward when he says breakfast is ready]
