[Oh, good, there's more distance now. Just... keep it up, Edward.]

[Oswald huffs in annoyance, watching Edward put that distance between them. Honestly. He's going to keep following anyway, though, even if he's a bit slower]

[Edward makes sure to turn, as much as possible, trying to lose Oswald. He makes it to the entrance after a bit of that, checking to make sure he actually managed.]

[Okay... Okay, good, now he can just start heading home by himself. Maybe walking a bit quicker and more anxiously than usual. He has a real bad feeling.]

[yeah he should. There might be some movement in the shadows but...maybe that's just a trick of the eye]

[He jumps slightly at the sign of movement, but... no. No, just his imagination. He's just amped up, that's all. He keeps walking.]

[yes, surely, that's it. Just like those other movements out of the corners of his eye]

[...Okay that's more worrying. And he turns, quickly, to see just what the hell is happening.]

[there's a glint, before a shadow disappears into an alleyway. Surely that's fine.]

[This seems very unfine, actually. He's... just gonna turn away again and start walking again. He just... needs to get home. And then things will be... ...well, not... fine. He'll be at home. But at least he knows what to expect there.]

[there's noises, now--the sound of metal on stone, brief, but there behind him.

It's getting closer. And he's the only one out here now]

[He jumps again, spinning around. What the fuck?] W-Who's there?

[no answer...for along moment. then there's a brief drag of metal on stone again, before it goes quiet]

[enigmaster]

[You know what, he decided that he hates this, actually. He backs up a few steps.] S-Seriously, if someone's there, at least have the courtesy to say so!

[no answer.

After a long moment of silence, there's a short chuckle, and that's it]

[...Okay, you know what, fuck this actually. He's gonna just. Go? He's gonna hurry on away from here because this is Gotham and that's never good.]

[it sure isn't. But even as he's hurrying away, he can maybe hear footsteps]

[He's not even going to look, he's just going to start running maybe.]

[yeah good call because those footsteps are uh

definitely matching pace]
