"It can be both." [And he gives Oswald a quick pat on the shoulder, before stepping away.] "Well, I'll leave you to it, then. Good luck."

[today on time. He has some cases he could stay late and work on but he doesn't want to so he'll just.

He just wants to go home and spend time with Edward. Besides he can do some work on the couch or something.]

[Edward is watching TV on the couch and holding his phone, when Oswald gets home. He looks a little annoyed... right up until he registers the sound of Oswald coming in.] Ah... Welcome back.

I'm home~ [he hums a bit, noting the look of annoyance]

How was your day?

Ah... Fine, really.

[When Oswald comes closer, he'll notice the channel on right now. It's... one of those shows where a "psychic" talks to people's dead relatives.]

Another ridiculously busy and stressful day, but I did talk to Harvey. [and he drops his case files on the table, before moving to sit down next to Edward] He said he'd be happy to come.

Ah... I'm glad... [Two whole (living) people at his birthday might not be much to some, but for Edward it's more than he ever could've hoped for.]

I thought so. It will be nice to have him.

[.....he frowns, glancing at the TV]

...any particular reason why you've chosen this show in particular to watch?

I came across it while looking for something to watch. Then I got angry. Now I'm sending them a lot of emails.

About the fact that what they're doing is a scam and they should go to jail.

Well, I can't really disagree with you on that. These things are usually a scam most of the time, aren't they?

Pretty much always. It's just... some asshole doing cold reading or hot reading to make money off of someone's grief.

I dislike them.

So he's a complete hack. He's making a mockery of what you do.

Him and every other so called psychic, yeah. [It's... not great. When you've been ostracized for being different while, at the same time, people like that are making money by pretending they can do what he does.]

Let's watch something else? He's hardly worth your time, then. [and he reaches out to rest a hand on his knee, comforting]

[Edward pauses typing on his phone, finally, and... his shoulders slump a little.] ...I guess. [Yeah, okay...] Sure.

I don't doubt for a moment that he deserves all of your ire. But unfortunately, this despicable leopard is hardly likely to change its spots. Your time is better spent on other ventures. [he squeezes his knee] Like dinner. Shall we do some cooking?
