But, eventually, Oswald will be allowed to see Edward. He's still out and they're not sure when he'll be waking up, right now. His condition is rather baffling, but their best guess right now is... a stroke of some sort.

...Well, he's going to be under observation here, for now.]

[Treatment is immediate, of course, and Edward's on an IV. There's... no change in the next day or two, but...]

[...on the third day, Edward finally stirs. Eyes opening slowly, though he hisses in discomfort after a moment, closing his eyes again.] S'too bright... [It's quiet and a little slurred, but unmistakably Edward.]

[...oswald might've been sleeping at the hospital. He might've not gone home. Butch might've brought him a change of clothes and one of the other lawyers brought over some case files for him to study while sitting at Edward's side.

The smell of hospital must be soaked into his skin at this point, or at least it feels like it.

Not that he cares.

He's been sick with worry, not sleeping much and in fits and starts, so when Edward stirs and says something while he's in the middle of a case file--Oswald starts, pushing to his feet immediately, coming closer] Edward?

...s'wald...? [He blinks his eyes open again. Carefully looking around, without moving too much. He feels... weird. Foggy.] ...Wha's... What's going on...?

It's alright, you're...you're in the hospital. [Oswald swallows hard, feeling something squeeze tight in his chest, and he's blinking rapidly] You're okay. It's okay. [he's taking his hand, then, holding it]

[enigmaster]

...Hospital...? [He frowns, trying to think, but... He can't think of any reason why-- Why is he here?] ...D'something happen? [...Talking is hard. His face feels weird. Kind of numb...]

You were out with Butch and you...collapsed. You, ah...you had a stroke.

[he's been specifically Not Thinking about what might've happened if Butch hadn't been there.]

[... ...?] Huh...? [That doesn't... sound right. What? Why would he have a stroke...? Just... out of nowhere?]

Fortunately, Butch got you here very quickly, but you've been unconscious for a couple of days now.

[enigmaster]

...Why'd I have... [...] Mmm...

[agoodname]

I...don't know. [he swallows.] But don't worry about it now, okay? You just need rest and time to recuperate.

[enigmaster]

[Everything feels so foggy and weird. Maybe Oswald's right.] ...head kin'a hurts...

That's understandable. You just need some more rest to let your body heal.

[enigmaster]

Mhmm... [He just kind of... closes his eyes again and breathes out. Rest. Okay. He can... He can do that...]

[he squeezes his hand as Edward's eyes close again] I'll be right here.

[enigmaster]

[Edward's breathing evens out. He's asleep again. For the best, probably, his body needs more time to recover...]

take in a couple watery, steadying breaths, and go tell the doctor that Edward briefly woke up]

[Things stay the same for a bit. Edward sleeps, a lot. Harvey visits soon, after hearing some things through the grapevine, leaving a get well card and a present for when Edward wakes up again. ...It's rather late at night, the next time Edward wakes up. He feels more... aware, this time? Everything looks and feels a little more solid. He looks around sleepily. ...It's loud. Hospitals are always too loud. Too many recently departed spirits.]

very asleep. He's on a cot that the staff must've brought in next to Edward's bed. Sitting near him, on Edward's bedside, is Gertrude]

[He turns his head, looking over at her tiredly.] ...Oh. Hey.

[Gertrude starts slightly, but turns to look at him, immediately relieved] "Oh, Edward, good you are awake." [she moves closer] "We were very worried. "
