....and how often do you get hurt when you're doing these sorts of things?

Not a lot. ...It's mostly... a lot of dramatics.

So they don't often try and pick you up and throw you into things? [eyebrow arch]

[enigmaster]

...Not often, no. [Not often, he says, like that makes it better.] That was... kind of extreme. ...Are you sure you're okay after that?

I'll be bruised, but I've had worse. [his lips still thin into a line as presses them together, though] ....are you alright?

[enigmaster]

I'm... [He's about to go ahead with the usual reassurance that of course he's fine. And... mostly, he is, except... Except when his thoughts start to wander. ...And he does have pretty clear instructions about. Talking to Oswald.] ...not sure.

[Oswald readies himself for Edward to simply dismiss what happened, like it's all fine-- but then he just....doesn't. And Oswald blinks, once, before scooting just a little closer] Oh? How so?

[enigmaster]

I, um... [It's one thing to admit that. It's another thing having to actually elaborate. And he's not entirely sure how to, so he hesitates.] I don't know. Just... The way he died, you know... [He trails off, not sure how to properly finish his thought. But, well. That's literally Edward's exact nightmare scenario, huh?]

[...really, when he puts it like that, it's not too difficult to put two and two together. And Oswald's reaching out just...gently lay a hand on Edward's--light, cautious]

...it hit too close to home.

[enigmaster]

...Maybe it's just... a little too easy to imagine being in that position. I mean, if things had gone just a little differently... [After all, Edward's pretty sure that people wouldn't have looked very hard for him, either.]

[agoodname]

[the pressure of his hand increases--and Oswald's fingers curl around Edward's palm, holding on] ...I can understand why that's frightening to imagine. [he squeezes his hand, gently] Fortunately, that didn't happen.

[enigmaster]

Yeah, I know. Just... [He swallows, hard.] ...Kind of hard not to think about that. [That awful smell, too.]

[agoodname]

I can understand that. [he rubs his thumb across Edward's knuckles, gently] ...would you like to watch a movie or something? It might help get your mind off of it?

[enigmaster]

Ah... Sure, but... I might... not be able to focus much on it, though. [That's not to say "no", he just... feels like he should say that right away. His focus right now isn't great and he knows it.]

That's fine. I only thought to use it as a distraction.

[enigmaster]

Alright. That... would be nice, then. [Mostly he just needs to... not think for a bit.]

[agoodname]

[he squeezes his hand again, once more, before releasing it] Do you want to get ready for bed? We could watch it in the bedroom.

[enigmaster]

That works, sure.

[agoodname]

Okay. I'll go get changed, and then meet you in the bedroom also. [he's just....going to wait for Edward to go first, though.]

[enigmaster]

Alright... [Yeah, Edward will get on that, then. Sure. He's. Still a little on autopilot, maybe.]

[agoodname]

[and once he's disappeared, Oswald is going to just....slowly heave himself to his feet. His face twists into a hard grimace, using both his cane and the back of the couch to get up, breath hissing through his teeth at the pain that's radiating through his hip and down his leg. Because hey that...maybe hurt a lot. He wasn't lying when he said he's had worse; he has. But it's still bad. Oswald blows out a breath, giving himself a moment to steel himself, before slowly making his way towards the study so he can change.]

[enigmaster]

[And Edward's just changing as well. Sitting on the edge of the bed for a bit as he waits. He... maybe needs a few deep breaths for a moment. Just to ground himself. He's... fine.]

[agoodname]

[Oswald will knock on the door a few minutes later, dressed in his pajamas and armed with a heating pad for his hip. It won't do too much, honestly, but it'll do enough.]

[enigmaster]

[Edward's just gonna let him on in. Time to just... relax for a bit.]

[agoodname]

[it's not hard to pick a light movie. Nothing too strenuous. About halfway through, Oswald's head will start to droop a bit, leaning onto Edward's shoulder]
