[Edward didn't think about his selection too much, he just went for the first light thing he could see. Ratatouille is what he ended up with, because he knows that won't trigger anything. He can... manage that one.
And... once Oswald settles next to him, Edward actually scoots a little closer.
Not just barely not touching. Straight up leaning against him. On purpose, this time. Boy, he really isn't doing good, huh?]]
[Oswald blinks at that--before he shifts, wiggling out his arm from against his side and instead curling it around Edward's shoulders gently, tucking him against his side. And offers him the popcorn]
Oswald is going to murder whomever decided to lock Edward in that small space for 24 hours.
Even as he watches the movie, he's already planning this. The only trouble is the fact that Edward can talk to ghosts. And someone murdered will probably have a ghost. So it will take some careful planning to pull this off in a way that will keep his name from both the physical world and the spiritual one.
[And Edward relaxes more and more, as the movie goes on. No longer trembling. He's just... watching. Eventually he ends up resting his head against Oswald's shoulder a bit.
It's about two thirds of the way through the movie that Edward's breathing slows. If Oswald looks over, he'll notice his eyes are closed.
He just... fell asleep against you again, Oswald.]
Oswald's features soften when he notices. He swallows a bit, tightening his arm around him a little, turning his head to gently press a soft kiss to the top of his head before just...breathing in.
[Edward sleeps for... a while, after. The nightmare took a lot out of him. On the plus side, no further dreams through the night. That helps. Though the memory of it still... lingers, when he finally wakes up.
On his own, because Oswald's off to work, of course. Edward's just... slowly going to wake up and get out of bed.
[that's fine--Oswald is going to be out most of the day, partially because he is really swamped with cases. He does text Edward around 6 that he's going to be about an hour late coming home due to extra work on a case, and asks if he's eaten yet or if Oswald should bring home dinner.]
No, no, I've got it. [he shakes his head, moving to set the bags on the table. He honestly could've probably used the help, he's just very used to waving away 90% of offers of help.]
Dreadful, honestly. [he can't help but roll his eyes] They mixed up about twelve different files at the DA's office so we had to spend the entire day trying to determine what was supposed to go where and for what case. We had to stall several trials because everything got so completely mixed up.
It was! A complete pain! If the idiots down in records hadn't been such....well, idiots, this wouldn't have been an issue! But noooo we be too harsh on them! They're doing their best!
[he rolls his eyes, starting to unpack the takeout] Well then maybe their best shouldn't be garbage.

You know.
Normal Ratatouillie watching thoughts.]

Yep.
He has to find out who did this.
And make them pay.]

He'll just. Wait. For Oswald to come home.]

But not before texting Edward some cute cat gifs of course while he's still working.
But he comes through the door laden with a couple bags of takeout]
I'm home~

[Edward looks over, as Oswald comes in and...]
Oh. [He steps closer.] Do you want some help with those?

How was your day?
no subject
Oh, um. Fine.
[He's. Definitely all better and not in the least bit still kind of affected by that ridiculously traumatic flashback dream.]
And yours?
no subject
[he huffs, obviously verklempt] Honestly.

[Edward is smiling a little, to himself. Fondly. Ah...]
Well. I'm very sorry about the existence of idiots.

Honestly. You get a file, you put it away, not finish your coffee or your snack or whatever. How difficult is it to just do their job?

the maid snorts at that, chuckling behind her newspaper] Honestly. It's completely ludicrous that they expect us to get anything done at all.
