...if you want to. [he swallows a bit, looking a little unsure] I'd hate to keep you if you're...busy? [his eyes flick over Edward again, how he's dressed to leave...and that scarf]

Oh... I just have one place to go, really, so it won't even take very long...

[He'd be back after Oswald left, for sure, but long before he got back from work.]

Alright. I can just leave later, then. [He'll take a seat. It's... It'd be better if he just left, but. Oswald seemed so disappointed. And Edward wants to be around him...]

...thank you. [he smiles, a little, then--and goes to finish plating breakfast] Would you mind getting the orange juice out of the fridge?

[He'll get on that. Breakfast time!]

[yep just going to get them settled with some basic breakfast. It isn't really anything special, but it's something.]

[There's a fond smile that curls the corner of his mouth at that] Oh? What are you looking for today?

I'm looking for a book on plants.

Since that's, you know. Kind of Ivy's thing. So I thought it might be interesting...

[That is actually something he's been interested in. It's just not... the ONLY stop he intends to make...]

Yeah... I don't know much about the topic. And I don't want to just keep having to google things when I'm talking to her...

Hah... You think so? I don't think I'll manage to be at quite the same level, but. I'm going to try, at least.

I have no doubt that you'll pick it up. [he pauses, then, contemplating his toast for a moment...before glancing up at Edward, eyes landing again on that scarf--and his expression goes a bit troubled]

[Edward takes a sip from his orange juice as he looks up.] Hm?

You'd...tell me if something was wrong...right?

... [...] What do you mean?

...that scarf. [his eyes drop to it again, brow furrowed] It's more than warm enough in here, but I haven't seen you without it since last night. And it can't be comfortable. [he looks...pretty worried] Did something happen last night?

[Edward swallows nervously, fidgeting with one of his sleeves. His anxiety is... pretty much through the roof right now, honestly. It's spiking badly. Being asked by Oswald so directly... He should have just gone out. He should've gone out or... he should've... found a better way to hide what happened he shouldn't have come back until late last night or something and

[And... suddenly Edward's not in the conversation.]

[He tilts his head.] Nothing happened, really...

[there's a flicker in his eyes, then, shoulders slumping, clearly hurt] ...oh. [and Oswald is gathering up his plate, moving to stand. He pauses, just...looking down at the table] If...do you....[he swallows, hard] ....I'm not stupid, you know. [quietly] If you don't want to tell me, you can just say so. But...something happened. And pretending like it didn't, Edward--[he cuts himself off, swallowing] ...just tell me. I told you, you could tell me if I'm making you uncomfortable. If it's too much. So tell me, if that's the case, and I won't--[he stops again, feels like he's choking on his words, but he doesn't want any misunderstandings, he doesn't want Edward to leave] ....I'll stop.

[enigmaster]

I don't think you're stupid.

I'm sorry if I gave you the impression that I thought that.

[It's a little... robotic, almost. Direct, yes, and blank, sure. Edward gets like that, sometimes. But this is... more so.]

I would just rather not talk about this... if that's alright.
