[and Oswald continues, even though he can't hear her--it's almost as if he can anticipate her responses though] Oh, well, apparently he was traipsing all over Gotham all night and into the morning looking for a doll for some very rude ghost who couldn't wait until the morning. [he lifts his head to look Edward in the eye--and there's a twitch tot he corner of his mouth, as if he's suppressing a smirk--yes he knows exactly what he's doing] He hardly got any sleep at all. "He what?!" [and Gertrude looks at him now, aghast] "Edward! Is this true?"

[Edward's got a bit of a deer in the headlights look and why does he feel like he's in trouble. Oswald. You snitch.] Um, that's... It's... honestly not that big of a deal, really... [That's not a no. And why does he feel like this isn't going to fly?]

I had to go out and find him this morning, mother! [oh that distressed face! HE WAS SO WORRIED, MOTHER!] He fell asleep in an abandoned building, he was so tired! "In an abandoned building?!"
