Yes, so people often say. He can be... a lot. [...he just sort of, stands there, awkwardly.]

That's a word for it. [closer still, then. He'll stop when he's right in front of him, tilting his head to look up at him] I don't really want to talk about him right now, though. [there's something in his stomach, twisting into knots of nerves as he reaches out to gently take his hand] ...I missed you.

[He doesn't... pull away. A part of him almost wants to, but another... really doesn't.]

I...

[There's that confusion again, in his eyes.]

[he reaches up with his other hand, setting his fingers gently against his cheek] ...did you miss me?

[enigmaster]

[Did he... miss... How does he answer that? Should he even answer that? It would probably be worse. More complicated, if he did. But what else can he do?] I don't... know. I-- I'm not sure I know what that feels like?

[agoodname]

It feels like...[Osvaldus pauses, then, his hand drifting down from his cheek to settle against Enygma's sternum] ...it feels like a part of you isn't there when they aren't. That a piece of you is somewhere else, with that person. Like there's a space you can't quite fill with anyone or anything else.

[enigmaster]

I... see. [He doesn't, really. Or...] I'm still not sure. Feelings like that are... [...] I'm not entirely certain I am capable of them.

[agoodname]

Oh? [he tilts his head a bit, in curiosity]

Well, I suppose that'll be something to think about. [he hums a bit, squeezing his hand, before dropping it and stepping back, breaking contact to walk over towards the table]

In the mean time, we wouldn't want dinner to get cold.

[enigmaster]

Dinner? [Tilting his head. ....he doesn't know what a date is]

[Osvaldus pauses, then, glancing over his shoulder on the way to the table. Like it's more than two steps away] Well, yes. I said I'd cook for you, didn't I?

[enigmaster]

[He sort of figured Osvaldus was going to eat that himself.] You did. Yes. I'm still not certain why...

Because you liked the panino and the hummus, right?

[enigmaster]

I... think I did? [you did, bud]

[agoodname]

[he looks almost amused at that] Then you'll have to try some different kinds of food, then. There's a lot of different flavors out there. [he moves to sit, gesturing to the other seat] Besides, eating a meal is often a feature of a date. [:>]

[enigmaster]

[He sits down. Right. Yes. That word again. He'll just sort of... nod? Sure, we all know what dates are. Right?] Alright. I'll take your word for it. [he looks at the food.] So what... are these? [...he points at the hummus.] I know this one. But not the others.

[agoodname]

[he props his chin in his hand for a moment, then] Do you...know what a date is?

[because that seems kind of important]

[enigmaster]

[...okay. okay, come on, Enygma, you know this one. think of all your knowledge of the mortal realm. the answer is in there somewhere.] ... [And then he sits up, looking confident.] Yes! It's a type of fruit.

[.........] ...well. You're not wrong, exactly.

[enigmaster]

Because I'm right. [he looks so proud]

[agoodname]

[he almost hates to burst his bubble]

It's not the only kind of date, however. And I'm afraid I don't have any of those kind of dates here.

[...he deflates immediately.] ...Oh.

Why are two different things using the same word. That's needlessly confusing.

Because it depends on the context of which they are used. There's a third meaning as well.
