He's not sure. He hasn't really actively thought about his parents' death. He'd numbly gone through the motions of funeral preparation, making sure his parents were buried side-by-side in the same plot no matter what his grandparents had wanted, and then attending the funeral and then having to defend the suspect to the murder of his parents--after that he just...buried himself in work. Focused only on that. Until that time back in the interview room, Oswald had been actively pursuing not thinking about his parents' death, and he honestly hadn't much since then--only in flashes here and there. He's been focusing on Edward and work, still.
And to be honest he's...not sure how to feel.
One way or another, he's certain it's not sparkling dinner conversation]
Ah...perhaps later? [he tries for a small smile, even as his chest tightens] I'd hate to ruin dinner.
[Edward is still a little worried, honestly, but... he nods. It's up to Oswald to talk about it when he wants to, after all, and. Well. It's probably better to eat first.]
Aggravating, once again. Records actually managed to straighten out their heinous debacle and found why the files had been mishandled, but we still had to try and finish resorting them today. It took almost all day.
Not to mention half the lawyers in the office are useless at sorting files themselves. They only function if you hand them the completed file itself, and that's on a very good day.
[And Edward will just listen to Oswald complain about work. It's weirdly nice...? And it makes for a good thing to talk about during dinner. Until that's through, anyway...]
[good thing Edward likes to hear about this, because it's also nice just to be able to vent a bit. But yes, that'll easily take them through dinner and clearing up--not just complaining, though, he'll idly talk about a couple cases in vague terms. He's got one that's murder, and another that's illegal parking.
So.
Bit of mood whiplash with those.
Eventually, though, they'll be able to settle on the couch with the last two glasses of wine from the bottle.]
[Oswald seems to be well into relaxed, at least. He lets out a bit of a sigh as he settles on the couch, reaching up to finally loosen his cravat and pull it from off his neck, tossing it carelessly on the coffee table.]
[Mmmmm and Oswald isn't bringing it up. Which makes Edward wonder if he should or not. Maybe this isn't quite long enough after and he should give it a few days. Or maybe Oswald just really doesn't want to talk about it at all or...

[Oh. He must be talking about...]
It's no problem, really. [...] Do you... want to talk about it?

...Alright. Later, then.
no subject
So--aside from becoming a master chef, how was your day?
no subject
Um, it was alright. [Still... staying indoors as much as possible, you know. It leaves him with not a lot to talk about, really.] How was work?

Edward sips his drink and... is quiet, for a moment. Not sure how to bring up the, ah... the thing from before...]
no subject
Well? What shall our evening activity be?
no subject
...So Edward ends up. Kind of quiet.
Lost in thought about this issue.]

Oswald blinks at that, turning his head, looking up at Edward]
Edward?

Huh?

[He is...]
Sorry, I was just... [He trails off and is quiet for a moment. But...] ...Is... everything alright with you?
