But he ends up just... putting his coat away, taking his shoes off, all still on autopilot, before taking a seat at the table and just. ... He's not really doing much, actually. He's just sitting there. That's all.]

[there's a period of silence, for a moment...before she sets down the newspaper and pushes to her feet, moving across the room and sitting at the table across from him. For a moment, she stares at him, contemplative--before she speaks again. This time, Edward can understand her.]

"You talk?"

[It takes a bit for Edward to react. Kind of like he's on a delay. But then he just looks up, slowly.] ...Um... What? [He might be a little bit out of it, but that caught him off guard enough.]

...He takes out his phone not to really do anything but to at least give the illusion that he's not a total zombie right now.]

[THAT SURE DID HAPPEN. And he'll remain mostly undisturbed until Oswald gets back about an hour later]

I'm back. They took the body to precinct to have it identified by forensics, but I'm pretty sure I already know who it is. [he's talking, even as he hangs things up]

[There's... a bit of a delay, again, between someone speaking and Edward really hearing it. So it takes a few moments before Edward actually looks up.] Oh... Welcome back.
