But Oswald might hear some very, uh... way too quick breathing in there. Like. Hyperventilation levels.]

[yikes??? yikes! He's going to push the door open, then, gently, peering into the darkened room] Edward? [again, his name, a bit louder this time]

[Edward's there, but very much asleep, still. The covers are off of him, seemingly having been kicked away or something earlier. He's breathing much too quick and he's not... looking great. Pale, sweaty... That's someone having a very intense nightmare.]

[that is definitely very not good--and Oswald is going to make his way in there, reaching out to turn on the bedside lamp] Edward? Edward, wake up. [louder, still, reaching out a hand to touch his shoulder]

[The breathing is still not slowing down and the only response, as Oswald touches his shoulder, is a panicked whimper. Not good.]

Edward--[he...does not! know what to do! Oswald swallows, and shakes his shoulder gently] Edward, you have to wake up--you're having a nightmare.

[After a bit of shaking, Edward gasps, eyes opening , but... Is he... really properly aware? He's pale and shaking and it's very hard to tell...]

Edward? Edward, it's just me. It's Oswald--I, you were having a nightmare and you need to breathe, I think? [he's keeping his hand on his shoulder, trying to figure out if he's aware or not or what is??? even happening???]

[Edward is... not looking great, still.] C-Can't... I... Too small, I can't... [He's. Partially aware. He seems to think he's elsewhere, though.]

Too small? [--claustrophobia-- and Oswald's pushing to his feet at that, moving as quickly as he's able across the room to hit the light switch and flood the room with light. Because it is a rather large bedroom]

[Edward's still breathing hard, still shaking, but he... blinks a little, as the lights turn on.]

It's--you're in my room, Edward, not--not there. It's not small. You can stretch out--[and yep he's going to move back across the room to the bed, which he's sitting down on]--you just, you just need to breathe. Slowly. Counts of ten? [HE DOESN'T KNOW BUT THAT'S WHAT THEY ALWAYS TELL PEOPLE TO DO????]

[And... slowly, Edward's breathing... calms down a little, as he does what Oswald says. Slow breaths. Counts of ten. He can do this. He's... just in Oswald's room. ...He's still shaking, but not hyperventilating anymore. Progress.]

.....Edward? [quietly, cautious--at least he's not hyperventilating any more so that's....a start????]

[Edward... trembles and he takes another deep breath, but...] I'm... Mm... M'okay... [He's really not, but he's back to reality, at least.]

[That's...a start, anyway]

That...was a pretty bad nightmare. [....welp. IF YOU DON'T HAVE ANYTHING BETTER TO SAY, STATE THE OBVIOUS????]

I... um... Mhm... [Edward breathes slowly a few more times, nodding quietly. Yeah. Kind of.] M'sorry, didn't mean to... um, did I wake you, or...

No, it's fine, I was already up. I was working on a case. [Oswald scoots a little closer] ....do you want to talk about it?

[enigmaster]

[Edward sits up, a little. And... far from how nervous physical contact usually makes him, he actually reaches out. Holding onto Oswald's sleeve, as if that'll... ground him, maybe. It... helps.] I just, um... Just a nightmare of when I was... [He trails off...]

[Edward's hand closes on his sleeve and Oswald...is a bit surprised. But he'll scoot a little closer, so they're almost touching, but not quite.] When you were.....?

[Edward's... quiet again. He's not looking at Oswald, his eyes turned downwards, at the floor.] ...There was this time when I, um... I kind of got stuck somewhere and... Sometimes I still dream about it, I guess...

That's why the cell felt claustrophobic? [he shifts just a little more so their knees are very gently touching]

...Mhm. Yeah. I was kind of stuck for... for a while. And ever since I can't be in small, dark spaces anymore...

[Well, Edward seems alright with that, so he'll scoot a little closer, so their knees are pressed together a little harder. Just...kind of hoping to be grounding.] That sounds awful. How long were you stuck?

[enigmaster]

...About a day. Some... twenty hours, I think...
