[he chuckles a bit at that] It's part of your charm, Edward. [lightly, easy enough to be interpreted as friendly banter as he pulls the soup off the stove]

I have charm? That's news to me.

Sure. Dry sense of humor, green eyes, freckles--that's more than enough to be charming. [again, lightly, just stating facts, you know, like friends!! friends give each other compliments! ahahahaha]

[enigmaster]

[A light blush appears on Edward's face and he raises his hand a little, making to go to his face, as if he could just... cover up his freckles that way. He decides against it, of course.] ...Maybe your standards are just low.

I beg your pardon. [and he sticks his nose in the air, then, with a sniff] My standards are impeccable. Now grab some bowls from the cupboard and a couple soup spoons, would you?

[...He almost kind of feels the urge to laugh at that, but ends up just nodding.] Sure. [And! He'll go do that, sure.]

Are you doubting my taste? [he arches an eyebrow at that] Have you seen my suits?

[enigmaster]

[Edward pauses as he's grabbing the bowls, looking over at Oswald, raising an eyebrow.] Yes, yes, your taste in everything else is excellent. Don't worry about that, now. [He's. trying to play it off as a joke, but he's not... good. at joking. His tone is too direct.]

My taste in everything, period, is excellent. [still haughty, taking those bowls and spooning some soup into both, placing them both on the counter so Edward can take his without any risk of them touching hahahaha yep going to head over to the table now] By the way, I ran into Harvey today.

[enigmaster]

[Edward heads over to the table too, though he stops and blinks at that.] Oh? [Right. Edward hasn't really. Spoken to him since the trial.]

Mn. Apparently he was worried because you sort of fell off the map and he was trying to check in on you. [he settles at the table] I told him you were fine and staying with me for the time being.

...Oh. [Oops. Edward sits down, looking a little embarrassed.] I guess I should have talked to him first.

It's fine, he was just a concerned when he discovered that you'd been evicted. [he sounds a bit amused--and is going to start on that soup] Ah--and I mentioned the concert on Saturday, and he seemed interested, so I invited him to meet us there.

[enigmaster]

[......he feels so disappointed suddenly why is he so disappointed OSWALD WHY--] Oh. Alright. I guess we'll see him there, then. [GOD DAMN IT]

[.....Oswald blinks, once, at that] ....if that's okay? I...should've asked.

[enigmaster]

Oh, no, that's fine. [WHY WOULDN'T IT BE FINE]

Okay. [he smiles, then, a bit] It'll be nice.

[which is about the time Gertrude will lean over Oswald's shoulder, squinting critically]

"Is that Lecsó?"

[enigmaster]

Ah... [Edward... pauses.] Yes. [And then, to Oswald:] Your mother is here.

[he perks a bit at that, startled]

Oh! In that case--[and he sits up a bit, affection an aura of calm but...he's definitely up to something] Mother, did you know what Edward was up to all last night?

[enigmaster]

[Edward's head shoots up, at that. Oh. Oh, Oswald, you snitch.] Uh. [OSWALD]

[Gertrude's eyes narrow at that--and she's glancing at Edward] "No, I do not know what Edward was doing. Why?" [and Oswald continues, even though he can't hear her--it's almost as if he can anticipate her responses though] Oh, well, apparently he was traipsing all over Gotham all night and into the morning looking for a doll for some very rude ghost who couldn't wait until the morning. [he lifts his head to look Edward in the eye--and there's a twitch tot he corner of his mouth, as if he's suppressing a smirk--yes he knows exactly what he's doing] He hardly got any sleep at all. "He what?!" [and Gertrude looks at him now, aghast] "Edward! Is this true?"
