[It's... Well, it's a clumsy job, there's no way around that. It's maybe not totally ruined, but it's clearly done by someone with no experience who was maybe a little rougher than is ideal. Edward's... a little nervous.] Is it still okay?

[Oswald brushes away the salt from the hide so can take a look at it, checking the stretched pelt over, humming a bit. There's one or two spots where the fur is missing and a couple nicks in the hide but...it's not ruined. Not ideal, of course, but...could be a lot worse.

He glances back at Edward]

This was your first time doing this, wasn't it?

[He just. Nods. That obvious, huh?]

[Oswald gives him a smile, then.]

Then you did very well with it, considering there wasn't anyone there to instruct you.

[well that's a reaction. Not an unexpected one, quite frankly] Thank you for getting it out and doing all this. It would've been a trial to do anything with if it'd soaked overnight.

Ah, sure... No problem, I guess. [still internally screaming a lot]

[he hums a bit] Would you mind grabbing me the salt and we'll add another layer before we get to the meat?

[enigmaster]

...Sure. [He's on it. Getting that and handing it over to Oswald.]

Thank you. [oh, this is very easy. Almost too easy. He's going to spread a new thick layer of salt over the hide] This will take all the moisture out of the hide so it can be used but won't go rotten.

[enigmaster]

[Edward's watching curiously. Filing away that information.] Huh... I see. You know a lot about this...

[agoodname]

Mn, I'd better. I've been doing it since I was seven or eight and my mother showed me how. [he sounds a bit amused at first, spreading a very thick layer of salt over it. Though he's going a bit quiet at the mention of his mother.]

[enigmaster]

[Edward... goes a bit quiet as well, so he doesn't immediately notice Oswald has as well. His mother, huh... That must have been nice.] I've never really needed to know. I don't think there's any books explaining it here...

Oh? [he arches an eyebrow] Do you normally just eat them raw?

[enigmaster]

Yeah. [Obviously???]

....oh. [he wrinkles his nose a bit, glancing at the bucket of innards from yesterday. It's still absolutely freezing in here] Well, if you're hungry, those are probably still good, and if you'd like them, better that than they go to waste.

I can't eat them, but if you usually eat it raw, it should be fine for you.

[enigmaster]

You can't, really? [That seems silly.] I mean, in that case, I'll definitely take them.

[agoodname]

I could, but it would be disgusting and I'd probably get sick. [he waves a hand at the bucket] Help yourself. Waste not, want not, after all. [and while Edward's doing that, he's going to go take a look at the butchered rabbit pieces from last night.]

[enigmaster]

Really? It tastes fine. ...I guess you probably don't drink blood either, though. [Un...like him. That's a normal fact to throw in casually. But Edward's absolutely going to take that bucket and just... snack on the contents. Food can be hard to come by in the winter and he's pretty damn hungry. He just kind of plops down on the floor while he eats.]

....no, I don't. I'm assuming that you do, then?

[enigmaster]

Sure. [He just kind of looks up, while he's eating.] I mean, usually I just eat what I catch raw, but... sometimes I'll drink blood instead. From cows or other bigger animals. When I can't find anything else... [It's hard to get enough blood to be a proper meal, but in a pinch it'll do.]

[.......] Dully noted. [dryly] Why not just kill the cow and take it with you?

...It's too big. [Super not the whole reason.]

[agoodname]

[....yeah no that's not the whole reason. But Oswald will let it go for now] Fair enough. [he hums, examining the meat] Alright, I think we're ready to prepare all this. I thought I saw some empty jars in the pantry; would you grab them for me? Oh, and more salt.

[enigmaster]

[Edward pauses in his eating of those rabbit guts, quickly wiping at his snout to be sure there's nothing on there, and stands up.] Mhm, okay...
