Oh? Did you buy it while you were out today?

I did, yeah. [Why does he feel all nervous? These are normal questions.]

I didn't realize you went clothes shopping as well. [he brightens just a bit, or seems to. This is, after all, one of his obvious hobbies] Where did you go?

Only for this, really. Since it was colder than I expected. I just went to this small store by... um... [... Where was it, again...?]

[agoodname]

[.....? Oswald blinks a bit at that] You....don't remember? [he doesn't bother to keep the surprise from his voice]

Ah... Hm. I guess I forgot... [He remembers going to the store and getting the scarf. That much he knows happened. But... where?]

That's...unusual. [he's frowning, slightly, moving to sit next to him]

...Everyone forgets stuff sometimes.

You don't, usually. [just...pointing that out, complete with an eyebrow raise]

[Well. Okay, he's. He's not wrong.]

Not... usually. I guess. But even I do sometimes.

....I suppose. It seems an odd thing to forget.

[He shrugs, a little. Not sure what he can do about that, Oswald.]

Hm. [well???? what can he say to that, really?] Well, I'm sure it'll come to you. Where else did you go today?

[enigmaster]

Oh, well... I went to look at some books, mostly.

[Nothing weird, there. Time to just move on now.]

[clearly nothing weird at all! it seemed like it for a moment, but if it doesn't bother Edward, what cause does he have to push it?] Oh? What kind of books? [and unless there's something else that stands out, the conversation will just continue along that vein for a bit--casual chatter. Because what cause is there to worry?]

[And, yep, it is just chatter from then on. Nothing really seems odd or off at all, it's just normal.

Mostly because Edward is sticking to the things he did earlier in the day, before things went... off the rails a little.

Probably not much to discuss anymore, so. Nothing else important before it's time for bed, right, Oswald?]

[yep, clearly nothing wrong here. Except for that he's still wearing the scarf. He looks mildly amused, even as he gets ready for bed] You're really attached to that scarf, aren't you? [he's teasing, lightly]

Ah... Hah, well. It's pretty comfortable. ...I'm not going to sleep with it on or anything, if you're worried.

Only a little. [yep still teasing.] We do have these things called blankets, and a thermostat, you know, if you do feel the urge. Though I have no idea how you're not sweating--it feels a bit warm in here to me, even.
