It's really not a problem, or anything, it's fine. [It's! FINE!!!]

[Elijah presses his lips together a bit]

"A problem, perhaps, no, but....certainly disappointing. When you want to spend time with someone alone, but then learn that someone else will be interrupting that."

[enigmaster]

... Maybe a little bit, I guess...

[agoodname]

"...you can tell him that, you know." [gentle, again] "That next time you'd rather it were just the two of you."

[enigmaster]

...The week's just about over. I don't-- There probably won't be a... [.......]

[agoodname]

[??]

"There...won't be a what?"

[enigmaster]

A... next time. You know. [hey guess who's still cynical re: any of this staying, IT'S EDWARD]

[agoodname]

"Whyever not? It's only been a week." [Elijah looks honestly confused]

[enigmaster]

I... I mean, I'm not going to be here for much longer anymore. My caseworker will be back in a few days and... um... Even if that ends up taking a while, I don't want to just keep taking up his room...

[agoodname]

"Edward...do you--"

[but he's cut off as Oswald reemerges, now with socks and shoes and making for the entrance hall]

Alright, I'm ready when you are.

[enigmaster]

[Edward is quickly distracted by Oswald's arrival and he lets out a breath quickly, just to get rid of any more embarrassment he might be feeling.] I'm good to go. [And he'll walk over to Oswald.]

[agoodname]

[Oswald smiles, then, as he comes over, but it falters slightly--and there's a slight frown that creases his forehead]

Are you alright? You look a bit flushed. [and there's a shift of his hand, like he's about to instinctively reach to feel his forehead]

[enigmaster]

[Edward glances away a bit, shaking his head.] It's nothing. I'm perfectly fine.

[agoodname]

[oops yep gonna immediately retract his hand then]

Ah. Alright. If you're sure.

[he looks a bit uncertain for a moment but....if Edward says so. He'll turn to pull two coats out of the closet, then, offering one to Edward]

Just until we get to the store and can get you your own.

[enigmaster]

Ah... Mhm, okay. [He'll take that, putting it on. It is short on him, obviously so, but. That doesn't really stand out that much in Edward's wardrobe. Most of his clothes are a little old...]

[agoodname]

[Yeah he's....starting to notice that. HE REALLY WOULD LIKE TO TAKE HIM SHOPPING maybe tomorrow, after they pick out a coat. And Oswald's shrugging into his own coat and retrieving his cane, before reaching out to scoop up the picnic basket] "You should offer to carry the basket and have him take the blanket." [hi Edward, Elijah is still definitely here] "It'd be easier on him, though he won't say it."

[enigmaster]

[Edward is just finished putting on his coat when Elijah appears. And... Edward just immediately steps forward, to Oswald.] I can take that. [Nodding at the basket. And reaching out to take it.]

[agoodname]

[Oswald startles a little at that, blinking. Before he can stop it, there's the knee-jerk reaction:] It's fine. I've got it.

[enigmaster]

[Edward hesitates at that, a little. Ah... How does he even convince him to hand it over, if he's going to be stubborn about it?] ...Please?

[agoodname]

[that...gives him pause. There's a moment where his hackles are still up, shoulders a bit tense, expecting something of an argument....but then just that. "Please?" And Oswald swallows, warring with himself for a moment--he's not weak, he can handle this, he can handle anything--but Edward's not pointing out his leg or saying his weak or any of that. He's just...asking. Politely. And after a moment he just...relinquishes the basket] ...I suppose, if you're so insistent.

[enigmaster]

[And Edward takes the basket, nodding as he does. Much better. He wasn't... sure if that would work. But just asking nicely can do the trick sometimes, huh?] Thank you.

[agoodname]

I suppose that leaves the blanket for me, then. [and he'll bend down to scoop it up, laying it over his arm] Shall we?

"That was very clever."
