Because every time I've told someone, they end up telling other people. Every time.

"That sounds pretty bad. How many times have you told someone?"

[Unintentionally, before he knew better? Countless times. Intentionally?] Six times.

"Every time, huh?" [Butch's mouth twists a little bit] "That sucks."

[enigmaster]

Yeah. Every time. [The times when it was unintentional or just people guessing were... still awful, but at least that was still different. Those weren't people he thought he could trust with something that personal.] ...I just thought Oswald wouldn't do that. [But then, he thought that every time, didn't he?]

[Butch considers this for a moment, and hums a bit]

"...I guess then you maybe gotta ask yourself why."

[enigmaster]

What? Why I expected differently?

[agoodname]

"Yeah. What about him made you expect differently?"

[enigmaster]

I don't know. Because he's the first person who actually believes me about it, I guess? No one did that before, so. I thought he was different. [Maybe he set the bar too low.]

[agoodname]

"Alright. So that makes sense. Logical conclusion to make." [he pauses] "What about his why?"

[enigmaster]

His? [uuuugh noooo he doesn't want to think about that]

[agoodname]

"Yeah. Now, I'm not sayin' it should clear his name or anything. He still made you feel like crap and told your secret to someone else. But everybody does something for a reason. And sometimes, when they're trying to do something for a good reason, people mess up. So the why can be important."

[enigmaster]

Sure, okay. He was trying to help, because he decided on his own that my judgement didn't matter and clearly he knew better than me. That definitely helps his case so much. [.......he might be incredibly bitter right now]

[agoodname]

"Is that what he said?"

[enigmaster]

...No. [don't you logic at him HE WANTS TO BE MAD FOREVER.....]

[agoodname]

"I'm not saying that it isn't what he thought. I don't know." [he shrugs] "Maybe it was. Fact 'a the matter is, we don't know why he did what he did. We do know that it hurt you, though, so you're mad about that. Which makes sense. I'd be mad, too."

[enigmaster]

Kind of ironic that he's just so concerned about me getting hurt that he goes and does it himself. [good going, Oswald]

[agoodname]

"A bit, yeah. But not really ironic in the funny way, is it."

[enigmaster]

No, not really. [...] I guess I should get back eventually.

[agoodname]

"I guess." [Butch hums a bit, thoughtful] "We've still got another half of a game to finish, though, if you're interested."

[enigmaster]

...Sure. Okay.

[He'll do that first. Try to work out whatever other feelings he can doing that.

Once that's over with, though, he... should get home. It's late.]

[agoodname]

[then Butch'll escort him back home, dropping him off at the front door]

"Have a good night, yeah?" [he smiles a bit] "And good luck."

[enigmaster]

...Sure. Thanks.

[And... in he goes. Luckily the elevator lights seem to be fixed, so he can just go up that without any problems.

Once he's on the 32nd floor, he hesitates a little by the door, but. Well. He did say he should go back.

He enters.]

[agoodname]

[most of the lights are on when he gets back. It's...rather quiet, though, save for a soft, quiet singing from the living room.

At the sound of the door, however, it quiets, and a moment later, Elijah's peeking his head around the corner. He looks mildly surprised to see him, but also relieved.]

"Ah--Edward. You're back." [he's coming out from the corner, then]
