The bright blessed day, the dark sacred night

[Saturday dawns to slightly cloudy skies and a temperature that's marginally warmer than yesterday. It's Gotham, so a fully sunny day isn't really possible, but it's as good as it's gonna get. Oswald will be a bit dressed down that morning into slacks and a sweater with a collared shirt peaking out of the top, bare footed in the kitchen as he's finishing up putting some items in a wicker basket, along with plates, silverware and glasses]

[enigmaster]

[Edward makes his way over to the kitchen, hovering a little near the entrance as he looks inside.] ...Do you need any help...?

[agoodname]

[Oswald glances over his shoulder at that--and the corner of his mouth curls a bit into a smile in greeting] If you'd like, I think there's a quilt in the closet we could take with us for a blanket. Much better than sitting on the grass.

[enigmaster]

Mm, okay. [And he goes off to get that. Shouldn't be hard to find and then he can put that somewhere so it's ready to take with them.]

[agoodname]

[it's fairly straightforward, honestly. the quilt is there. And Oswald will keep talking from the kitchen, loud enough so he can hear] It's supposed to be a bit chilly today. I could lend you one of my coats again, but that would be a bit short--so I thought maybe we could swing by somewhere before we go to the park and get you a proper one.

[enigmaster]

[Edward pauses, still holding the quilt.] ...Oh. You don't, um, you don't have to...

[agoodname]

I'd rather you didn't get sick because of the cold, though. We will be outside the whole time.

[enigmaster]

...Alright, then. If you're sure.

[agoodname]

I'm quite sure, yes. [a bit primly, bringing the now packed basket to the front door and setting it over there] You can hardly enjoy a jazz concert if you're shivering, can you?

[enigmaster]

[Edward would point out that he's been outside in colder weather without a coat and been fine, but that's probably not... the right thing to say.]

Well. When you put it that way.

[agoodname]

Yes, well, I am a lawyer. It's my job to find the logical argument. [he smirks Edward's way]

[enigmaster]

Ah. That'll show me to even try to argue with you, hm?

[agoodname]

[alskdhfs he can't help but laugh at that a little] Well, you're certainly welcome to try~

[enigmaster]

I'll just lose, though.

[agoodname]

[he just shrugs nonchalantly] You never know~ [and he's moving towards the bedroom to gather up a pair of socks that he can wear]

[enigmaster]

[And Edward just waits. Checking his phone idly as he does. ...Doing a quick ghost scan around the room, because he usually does so.]

[agoodname]

[Just Elijah this time. Who is sitting on the couch, watching this progression with mild curiosity and interest]

"Off to the concert, then?"

[enigmaster]

Ah... Yes, that's right.

[agoodname]

[the corner of his mouth curls gently into a smile]

"I see."

[enigmaster]

I've never really been to this kind of thing before. [Or anywhere with a friend, much. Last time he had something like that, they certainly didn't go to... stuff like this.]

[agoodname]

"You'll enjoy it, I think. We used to take Oswald to these free concerts in the park on the summer rather regularly when he was a boy. it was a rather inexpensive way to get outside and spend time together."

[enigmaster]

...It sounds... nice. [A family outing like that.]

[agoodname]

"It was. We worked hard, but those times when we could go and spend time together, that's all we focused on. We felt fortunate to have it."

[enigmaster]

[He definitely feels envious, hearing that, even though that's not really fair considering Elijah's dead now.] I see. I've never really been the... spend time with people type, I guess. Or. Not a lot, anyway... [Once before. And now with Oswald.]

[agoodname]

"Well. I hope you enjoy this one, then. I'm sure you will; you'll have a picnic and a blanket and some nice music and hopefully not much else to worry about."
