You shouldn't have to be hurt at all. [he just....allows himself a brief moment of pretending to fuss over the dressing to card his fingers through Edward's hair]

[And Edward just... goes quiet. Not really sure what to say, because Oswald is upset and there's really no way to convince him this is fine. But Edward doesn't consider it a big deal, so. You know.]

[yeah there is zero way to convince him it's fine. And there's a moment of silence in that bathroom--tense silence--before Oswald just lets out a sigh]

...are they all this dangerous?

[enigmaster]

Not all of them. I mean, sometimes it doesn't really involve living people at all. [Those are the safest ones.] It's when it does that things can be a little... unpredictable.

And how often does that happen?

[enigmaster]

...I don't know. Pretty often, I guess.

[mmmmm boy he does not love that] I see. [.....] And you can't, just....I don't know. Leave them a note?

Sometimes, sure. That doesn't always work.

What about an email?

[enigmaster]

Right. An email supposedly containing a message from a dead loved one, sent from an unknown email address.

That'd go well.

Carrier pigeon?

[enigmaster]

[OSWALD PLEASE] Doesn't seem thematically appropriate. Maybe if I used a raven, lean into the death angle.

Now that I could see. Much more convincing than a pigeon.

I'm sure there's some kind of raven rescue around Gotham somewhere that would let you borrow a raven now and then.

Worst come to worst, you could use a crow.

Hah... That'd be a sight.

As you said. Thematically appropriate. I think it would be incredibly effective, and much safer.

[enigmaster]

[Edward sincerely laughs, this time.] You're ridiculous.

[agoodname]

[Ah. He laughed. That's...so incredibly cute and makes his stomach do flip flops and aaaaaaaAAAAHHHHH HE'S very glad he made him laugh] Incorrect. I'm brilliant. [he smirks, before squeezing Edward's shoulders gently] Come now--dinner's getting cold.

You can be both, you know. But alright. [And he'll get up. Yeah, let's just. Eat. Let's do that.]

[he just scoffs a bit at that, but he's definitely amused--and is going to go dole them both out some dinner and let the evening move on from there.

After all

He knows what he's going to do about this]

[enigmaster]

[The evening goes on normally. And the next day isn't anything too special. Edward doesn't have any ghosts bugging him with requests, so he just goes out for his own sake. It's just... nice to take a walk, sometimes, just for himself.

And it helps keep him occupied, too.

It's around evening when he makes his way back home.]

[as soon as the door opens, he'll hear Oswald's voice] --as I've said. So, no matter what happens, you just go along with it, and I don't want to hear a word against it, am I clear?

[enigmaster]

[Someone's here? Huh. For a moment, Edward freezes, but... He pushes the social anxiety away for now. He closes the door behind him and keeps going.]

[then, as he moves towards the living room he'll hear the second voice first]

"Hey, listen, as long as I'm gettin' paid, he could be doin' the weirdest kinda thing, and I'm fine. I've dealt with some really strange stuff and strange people. I don't think your boy could show me a lot of things that would throw me for a loop."

[before he spots the owner of said voice sitting on the couch kitty-corner from Oswald, who is sitting back, one leg idly crossed over the other]
