It did take a long time for what should have been a pretty simple case. That must look odd.

It does. Especially for me. [he shrugs a bit] I'll handle it, though. I'm still relatively new, and most newcomers lose some cases. At least they won't accuse me constantly of cheating any more. [he rolls his eyes at that in obvious annoyance]

...That happened a lot?

[agoodname]

Oh, yes. [he smirks at that] First over my good grades, and then that I hadn't lost a single case up until now.

[enigmaster]

Hm. So they made childish assumptions because you're good at what you do. I see.

[agoodname]

[Oswald's smirk widens a bit at that, and he looks pleased with the conclusion] Essentially, yes. Simple minds, the lot of them.

[enigmaster]

They've already decided what makes more sense to them. Anything to the contrary they'll just spin around as proof instead. I know the type. [......he would, yeah.]

[agoodname]

[he pauses for a moment at that, studying Edward] ....I suppose you would, wouldn't you?

[enigmaster]

[Edward just calmly continues eating.] ...People have their narratives. They don't like things that go against them.

[yep]

They certainly do. And those people end up being hardly worth the time anyone puts into them. [dryly]

[enigmaster]

Mhm. Far better to not even bother with them. [Edward's gotten very good at pushing those types away.]

[agoodname]

Agreed. [Oswald pushes his plate away, having finished] A complete waste of energy.

[enigmaster]

Yes. Well. People usually are.

[geez edward]

[the corner of Oswald's mouth quirks a bit at that, picking up his own plate even as he arches an eyebrow]

All people?

[enigmaster]

...Just about. [Not... Not necessarily all. But he doesn't know what to make of this, yet. Or if there's even a point to figuring it out, when it's either going to be just the same as always or just temporary...]

[agoodname]

[he can't help but chuckle a bit at that] ...you're not wrong, in most cases. [right, he's going to take his dish into the kitchen to put it in the dishwasher]

People do tend to be predictable.

[Even if they pretend not to be.

Edward puts his own plate away a few moments after Oswald.]

They are, that. [dry as all hell] Speaking of--shall we go and retrieve your things?

[enigmaster]

Mm... Alright.

[He would... kind of like his stuff back. He doesn't have a lot, but it's still his.]

Lovely. Let's take care of that, then.

[and he'll grab his coat, moving to hand Edward his]

We'll just take a taxi over.

[enigmaster]

[Edward blinks a little as he's handed a coat. Ah. Well, it is probably cold out, so. He'll just put that on.] ...Sure. [Honestly, he's just kind of going along with this. Like. Okay. This is happening. Sure.]

[it doesn't take long to flag down a taxi; there are plenty in this area. Nor does it take too long to get to Edward's old apartment complex--at which point Oswald is making to stride right in unless Edward stops him for any reason.]

[Edward absolutely doesn't stop him. Right now it doesn't even occur to him to try, he's just trailing behind nervously. Oswald seems... very intent on this. It's... a much cheaper place. There isn't even really a proper receptionist or anything, but there is a little office there.]

[agoodname]

[GREAT THAT'S WHERE HE'S GOING THEN and he'll rap on the door with his cane] Excuse me. I'm here to speak to the landlord of this establishment.

[enigmaster]

[There's some shuffling behind the door. And, after some moments, a man opens it. Narrowing his eyes at Oswald, a little. He looks... unpleasant. Those sorts of people with an unpleasant personality that just have an aura radiating it?

Yeah. That kind.]
