[.........oh. And immediately Oswald feels his stomach twist in on itself. He swallows, hard, trying to control his expression, and he just...reaches out to gently rest his fingertips against Edward's wrist]
[he...doesn't really know what to say to that. He could talk about how that isn't how it should be but...he knows well enough that things never are as they should be. That life isn't fair. So he just...quiets.]
[And that's when the door opens again, Harvey stepping back into the room.]
"Well, that's taken care of. The cells here really aren't great, but... At least you shouldn't feel so cramped now, Edward." [He still looks a little worried. Glancing Oswald's way, briefly, before turning his attention back to Edward.] "...You ready to call it a night?"

[Edward pushes his chair back and gets to his feet. A cell's still a cell, but. Maybe he'll get some sleep, this time...]
....yes. He's been in here too long already. [he reaches out to gather up what they've worked on] I'll finish the last of this tonight. As I've said, put what you want out there, and I'll follow your lead on it. I know how to make this look good.
"I think this case shows pretty well that a lot of people don't care much about what they're supposed to do. But that's why we need more people like you around."

[Time seems to go faster, then. It's the next day, now, and the trial is due to start soon. In the meantime, Edward is waiting outside the courtroom. On his own, Harvey isn't in sight, but his briefcase is sitting there. Looks like he was just there, must have just stepped away.
Edward is... wearing the sweater Oswald got him.
And he's also playing with a... Rubik's Cube? Kind of idly, really.]
[Oswald has his own briefcase, and pauses, briefly, as he approaches the courtroom--feeling a small frission of warmth go through him when he realizes what Edward is wearing. He comes a bit closer--best not to get too close in case someone is watching, but--]
